When Germany’s champion trainer Henk Grewe takes a look at young Thoroughbreds, people listen closely. We were all the more delighted to welcome him here and introduce him to our promising young horses as well as our broodmares.
The focus was initially on our two filly foals from this year, Welldonia and Laima. With his trained eye, Henk Grewe took a close look at both foals. His verdict was thoroughly positive—a benevolent, approving glance that reaffirms us in our breeding efforts.
Laima, in particular, seemed to have immediately won the prominent visitor’s heart. Curious and attentive, she hardly strayed from his side throughout the entire tour, showcasing her open, intelligent nature.
Of course, our three broodmares—Wishing Well, Lady Vivian, and Smentana—were also the focus of the visit. Especially upon seeing Wishing Well, it quickly became clear where Wellem—Welldonia’s brother—gets his strength, athleticism, and great potential. For us, she is a mare of exceptional quality whose offspring possess exactly the traits we desire for our breeding program.
In the afternoon, the journey continued to Hofgut Heymann, where the next promising young horse was already waiting: Laki, the yearling colt by Lady Vivian. He, too, made a very positive impression on Henk Grewe.
